STEINER UPDATES ITS NIGHTHUNTER LINE OF BINOCULARS

New Nighthunter XP Series Boasts Increased Light Transmission and Improved Design

Moorestown, March 22, 2004 - Steiner Optics today announced the launch of the second generation of its popular Nighthunter binocular line, the Nighthunter XP series. Brighter than the original Nighthunter, the Nighhunter XP offers a peak light-transmission of 97 percent or more on most models, and its updated design features provide even greater ease of use and comfort when glassing.

With internal elements engineered to maximize vision in near-dark conditions, the Nighthunter XP binocular offers a clear advantage when viewing subjects before dawn and after dusk. The Nighthunter XP is equipped with precision-crafted optical glass coated with Steiner's exclusive "HD" High Definition broadband lens coating. An advanced baffle system virtually eliminates internal stray light, making the binocular brighter than any others in its class.

This Porro-prism binocular has a rugged body construction and is designed for optimal performance under any conditions. Like the original Nighthunter series, the XP models feature the one time Sports Auto-Focus system. Once the Nighthunter is adjusted for an individual's eye, all subjects are in full focus from about 20 yards to infinity (slightly higher distance on 10x and 12x models). Any subject that appears within that range can be immediately pinpointed, an especially important feature in low light and darkness, when exact distances are harder to recognize. The new model also features memory lock focus, enabling users to lock in their personal focus setting for quick and easy recall.

The new XP models feature the same soft rubber "Ergoflex" contoured eyecups to help eliminate distracting sidelight, but now users can adjust them to three positions: "fully extended," with the cups contoured to the user's face to block out all sidelight; "halfway," with the eyecups' wings folded down; and "fully collapsed," to allow full use with eyeglasses.

Steiner's Nighthunter XP models come complete with attached objective lens caps, a rain-guard and a super-comfortable neoprene carry strap that attaches with Steiner's new easy-to-use ClicLoc connection system. All Nighthunter XP's are Mil-spec waterproof and shockproof to withstand use in less-than-ideal conditions.

Available in five models: 8x30, 7x50, 10x50, 8x56 and 12x56, the Steiner Nighthunter XP is backed by a 30-year warranty and will be available through Steiner's network of retailers in Spring 2004.
